Feature

  • Pump: Prior to extraction, the unique 15 bar Triple-Prime pump automatically releases three bursts of hot water into the filter head, causing the ground coffee or Espresso pod to expand. This increases pressure, allowing the machine to extract more crema, giving the coffee a rich, smooth texture and taste.
  • Steam: The stainless steel steam wand is mounted on a swivel ball for easy maneuverability. It produces continuous dry steam for barista-style milk and froth (the included enhancer allows you to create perfect froth without moving the jug). A separate wand dispenses hot water on demand.
  • Temperature Control System: The thermoblock boiler system maintains the water at an ideal 204 degrees F during extraction. While steaming, it reaches temperatures of over 250 degrees F. When steaming is completed, the unique auto-purge function releases a measured amount of steam to return the temperature to the optimal level.
  • Materials: The Espresso Machine's body, controls and tamping head are formed using the highest-grade aluminum and zinc. Unlike thinner pressed metals, die-cast construction molds molten metals at intense temperatures. The result is the ultimate in durability and performance, and a more refined finish.

It includes programmable buttons to dispense espresso or coffee through a specially designed boiler that assures the proper temperature during extraction.

Don't buy, and don't ever buy directly from Breville! - Rufus Fuscus - Pennsylvania, USA

Breville espresso machines are beautiful, solid pieces of metal to display on your kitchen counter. However, their insides and circuitry are a very different story. My new Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine (BES830XL) lasted three days, after which it ceased to be an automatic machine and wouldn't stop pouring coffee all over. There was no way to fix it. This machine has the looks of an Italian convertible and the guts of a cheap Chinese toy.

Still, the biggest problem lies with the customer service and warranty offered by "Breville USA"... well, that company doesn't really exist: it's HWI USA, a company in Torrance (California), which distributes all Breville products in the US. The real Breville is an Australian company whose products are normally made in China, as in the case of this Espresso machine.

If you are seduced by the looks of this machine, as I was, at least do NOT ever buy directly from Breville. Their website carefully avoids giving any information about returns. A buyer will only find out about their policy after receiving the already purchased machine. "Breville USA" (i.e., HWI USA) pays to ship back defective machines only if you accept to have it fixed ---or, in case they cannot fix it, have it replaced. Of course, when a 0 espresso machine breaks in three days, after making 9 shots of espresso, one may want to return it for good and be reimbursed. In that case, one has to pay to ship back a 23-lb box all the way to Southern California. The joke is not funny, and it can cost you as much as 0 to send it back (with tracking no. and insurance).

Caveat emptor! Save yourself a bad headache and look elsewhere!
